In the beginning...

1905
  • Corinth Baptist Church organized in the Spring of 1905 by Reverend Tom Lion on G Street NE, Ardmore, Oklahoma
  • Brush Arbor built on 8th & G Street NE.
  • 1st Pastor, Rev. McGee 
  • Fall 1905 the church was moved in a house on 8th Avenue between N and O Streets, Northeast. 
1906-1916
  • Spring 1906, Corinth moved into a canning factory on P Street across from the Frisco Railroad tracks.
  • 2nd Pastor, Reverend S.P. Walker was called to pastor late in the year of 1906.
  • October 4, 1909, Church purchased a lot and a house at N and 10th Streets Northeast from O.M. Redfield for $300.00. 
  • On behalf of the church, Mr. Henry Perkins, Mrs. John Mitchell, Matt Pratt, and Mr. Will Clayton contracted to buy the property for $300.00: $20 down and $8 per month. A house was later purchased and placed on the lot.
  • 3rd Pastor, Reverend A.W. Wiley, called (date unknown), but served until faithfully until 1916.
1917 to 1923
  • 4th Pastor, Reverend S. A.  Bumpass called in 1917, served for two years. 
  • 5th Pastor, Reverend I. T. Pitfield was called in 1919 and served until May 1923. 
  • Frame building, torn down due to storm damage, again, a brush arbor was built until the new stone building was erected.
1923 - 1936  
  • 6th Pastor, Rev. G.W. Howard, 7th Pastor, Rev. J.B. Gentry, 8th Pastor, Rev. W.L. Lee, 9th Pastor, Rev S.M Hill, 10th Pastor, Rev. C.T. Andrews
  • 11th Pastor, Reverend W.M. Lane called in 1928 served as pastor, served until 1930. 
  • Church purchased a parsonage for $15.00 and moved the parsonage on the church property.  Pastor Land served only a short time from 1929 to 1930. 
  • 12th Pastor, Reverend A.J Jones called on April 4, 1930, and served until 1934.
  •  Parsonage rebuilt, spring of 1934.
  • 13th Pastor, Reverend C.B. Newton, called October 16, 1934, and served until October 26, 1937.

Expanding the vision...

1937 to 1950
  • 14th Pastor, Dr. W.K. Jackson, called October 26, 1937, and served 8 years until June 1945.
  • Gas and electricity installed in the church along with new pews and pulpit furniture.
  • 15th Pastor, Reverend W. I. Newson called, circa 1945.
  • Educational building was started but was destroyed in a storm.
1951 to 1986
  • 16th Pastor, Dr C. M. Franks, called in April 1951 and served faithfully until June 15, 1986. (35 years and 12 days.)
  • Erected a new church – Sanctuary, Kitchen, Fellowship Hall and Education Unit
  • Membership increased and strengthened, numerous clubs and auxiliaries were organized, and youth participation increased. 
  • Greater visibility of the church within the Chickasaw District and State Conventions.

Where we are...

October 1986 - October 1987
  • Deacon John Moore, humbly leading and guiding the administration and development of the Corinth Baptist Church.
  • Led church earnestly praying for a pastor.
  • Membership lovingly held together.
1987 - 2007
  • 17th Pastor, Reverend George R. Collins, served from October 3, 1987, to January 29, 1989.
  • Corinth Newspaper was created.
